Preoperative Cardiology Evaluation: Virtual Consultation Preparation
Cardiovascular preparation for an upcoming procedure
Preoperative cardiovascular assessment involves the planned surgery, functional status, relevant symptoms, prior heart disease, current therapies, and whether additional evaluation is appropriate. The surgical team and the cardiovascular clinician determine the required documentation and clinical timeframe.
Information that improves the consultation
Prepare the procedure name and anticipated date, surgeon and facility information, available electrocardiograms or imaging, medication list, and any past anesthesia or cardiovascular complications. Ask the scheduling team whether the relevant visit format, documentation, and turnaround can meet the surgical request.
Planning and continuity
Some patients require physical examination, diagnostic testing, or coordination with local clinicians. The availability of a virtual visit does not by itself establish surgical clearance; the licensed treating clinician determines the clinical recommendation.
